Annoying phone calls

Just passing on this information that I recently received via the Moms Blogs. I always get the one where they say that my car warranty is about to expire. Heh-heh. I own a 2000 Ford Contour and my husband drives an old beat up Chevy truck. Yeah, our warranties went out ages ago. Still whenever I tell that person to drop me off their phone list, they are a bit rude. Here's how to help you figure out whose behind those annoying phone calls.

EVERYCALL.US STOPS TELEMARKETERS!

It has happened to all of us, a telemarketing call during dinner,
but how do you get them to stop calling?

This website recently launched and is helping people stop telemarketing calls by identifying who's behind those unknown numbers. The free service works in
conjunction with data from the FCC.

Lazy spring days

Ah, spring. The time of year that brings pollen to the air, warm sunshine, and fresh stormy breezes to produce up those big thunderstorms. Some of my fellow co-workers have already complained about sneezing alot, itchy eyes, and sore throats as allergies kick in. I have to fervently remember to take an allergy pill once in awhile, but for the most part, I do fairly well as the climate changes. This time of year is also for planting tomato plants and flowers.

I've got a small area in my front lawn that the kids helped me with, a place for my bird bath and feeder. We planted three Lilly plants and other annuals there. Hopefully this weekend or next, my hubby will get around to putting up the timber border around it to complete the look. I also have to get onto him about doing a little pre-maintenance work to my lawn mower: get a new spark plug, fill up the gas tank and the gas container in the garage, and tighten up the nuts and bolts. It's an old mower, but so far has kept going. I like doing yard work and I like messing around with the plants.

Once the work is done, then I like to sit back and relax. This is the time of year I can actually catch up on reading, as I like sitting outside. Unfortunately it takes me away from the computer so I don't do much for my own writing efforts, but I hope the few writing groups and blogs that I belong to will forgive my lack of submissions. It's just too pretty outside and here in Texas, by at least May, it will begin to get hot. So while the temperatures are in the low 80's, I will enjoy being outdoors. I am waiting on my proofs to come back on Sequels one and two to my first book. If the 2nd sequel looks acceptable this go round, then it will be a go for publishing through CreateSpace.com. The 3rd sequel is my newest edited draft to review and frankly I think is the Best of all the books. The 4th sequel sits on my computer and needs all that editing, and frankly with the weather being so nice, I'm not in the mood to be glued indoors on my computer right now. I have time to get to it over the summertime.

I did go fishing recently. We headed to the lake a couple of weekends ago, where we finally managed to catch a few white bass. I even caught a semi-whopper, a weird fish, that gave me a good little mini-fight coming onto shore. It's a bony fish to eat, I hear, but you can eat it. I thinks its a Gasper or a drum fish.

And in between all this, we even started up a vegi-garden at my mother's place. So that means I'll have to run out there to weed and water it. I hope the plants do well, all those tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, onions, peppers, and garlic. We are due in for thunderstorms on Easter Sunday, but it will give the garden a good soaking.

I didn't do much for Easter this year. I only bought my grandsons those filled candy/toy baskets from the grocery store. This weekend was also my son-in-law's birthday, so they were concentrating on that family effort than Easter, which is acceptable by me. I told my mother I wanted to cut back on the expenses I rack up on each holiday. I'm always the one buying all the food/drinks and preparing the meals and I'm tired of it. Not to be mean to her, but I think we should concentrate on the major end of the year holidays, like Thanksgiving and Christmas. So for Sunday, I'll probably wind up baking a chicken and making a simple meal and take some over to my mom's. I mean, the weather is suppose to be bad, so there's not much sense in her getting out in it. She accepted my reasoning this year. I know that most folks go to church and all on Sunday, but we've sort of lapsed on going ourselves. Although I still believe in a higher power and give my prayers and thanks for my blessings to Him daily.

So that's my recent update and I'm fairly content taking some time to breath easy. I think its a way to refresh our energy, our souls, so when we come back to writing projects, we can feel invigorated to do it.

I hope everyone has a Happy Easter Weekend.
